Today we woke to a rainy morning - but our frowns turned upside down when we saw the article in the local paper!
Yesterday a reported came to the school to see the welcome ceremony and to interview Mr Sugano - Ono HS principal and Mr Lilly. He asked many questions about both schools and the wonderful sister school relationship we have created over the last 20 years.
Once we arrived at school we had a meeting with our teachers after homeroom with out host sisters and brothers. We participated in two different English lessons. Firstly, we learnt about Kiyomizidera and Kinkakuji in Kyoto where we will visit on Friday. Then in the second class we learnt about many different aspect of Ono HS, Japanese language and Culture. Kimberley and Gyu Li have tried to convince MS Campion that going to a cat cafe on Tokyo is ESSENTIAL!
Next we had class with Mr Mori - a chemistry teacher. We experimented with extracting cooler from some dried flowers and then using different solutions to create various colours! Students then used to colour to design their own coasters.
After lunch we had a quiet study session. All students had some study to do, and Ethan and Meng How did some Year 11 SACs. Well done boys! After out study session we went outside to practise our jump rope skills for the school sports day tomorrow. We all have to jump as a group and we have 1 1/2 minutes to try and do as many jumps in a row as we can! All of the HGs will be competing and out aim is to beat 44 - the number of continuous jumps done by the Brentwood students in 2015.
Our last activity of the day was to go to the ESS club - the English Speaking Society. They had prepared a quiz game and then helped everyone to write their names in kanji!
So it was another busy day here at Ono High School. Everyone has been so very open and friendly with us and although we are tired, we are having a great time!
