On Monday night we gathered to celebrate our time in Ono with a farewell party. After some refreshments, we moved towards the more formal part of the evening. Mr Sugano, the principal of Ono HS, gave a wonderful speech in English to everyone. Despite not being and English teacher, he spoke with high regard about the Brentwood students. Angie represented out students by giving a speech in Japanese - which she managed to do without crying too much! Well done Angie!
After the more formal part of the evening, Brentwood students organised games to play. We had charades, Chinese whispers, a blindfolded origami challenge and a game which got everyone up and dancing! Well done to all the students for having a go at giving instructions in Japanese!
After the student performances, we were lucky enough to see a traditional Japanese lion dance. Accompanied by musicians on flutes and taiko drums, performers dance and gave an amazing performance.
The evening finished with a speech by Mr Lilly and the exchange of gifts between the two schools.Brentwood received a beautiful shodo (calligraphy) brush and Ono received a Galileo clock.
